Chapter 1

The compound’s private beach was their sanctuary. Twenty-foot walls of reinforced concrete and coiled razor wire ended at the treeline, giving way to a crescent of pale sand that belonged only to the club. The Pacific sighed against the shore, a rhythmic counterpoint to the ever-present hum of the security cameras panning silently in the dusk. For Ella, the sound of the ocean was the only thing loud enough to sometimes drown out the echo of chants in her head.

She stood at the water's edge, the hem of her thin linen dress damp with salt spray. Leo and Jude were a little way up the beach, tending to a small fire they’d built in a pit of stones. The orange light played over the dense tapestry of ink on Leo’s muscular arms, and gleamed in the silver of Jude’s lip ring when he laughed at something quiet Leo said.

Their eyes were on her. She could feel the weight of their gazes, a tangible warmth on her skin that had nothing to do with the fire. It was a familiar pressure, one that often pulled her back from the edge of a spiral, anchoring her in the *now*. Tonight, that gaze felt different. Heavier. Intentional.

“Come sit, baby,” Leo called, his voice a low rumble that carried on the sea breeze.

She walked back, the cool sand giving way beneath her bare feet. As she settled on the thick blanket between them, Jude’s hand, large and warm, found the bare skin of her upper arm. His thumb traced a slow, absent circle. Leo leaned forward, the firelight catching the blue of his eyes, making them look like deep water.

“You’re thinking too loud,” Leo murmured, his fingers coming up to brush a strand of brown hair from her face. His touch was proprietary, grounding.

Jude’s other hand joined the first, his palms sliding down her arms. “Let us quiet it for you.”

They turned her gently, so her back was to Leo’s broad chest. His arms encircled her, his beard a soft scratch against her temple. Jude knelt before her, his confident eyes holding hers. His hands went to the thin straps of her dress.

“This okay?” Jude asked, the question a formality. The command beneath it was clear.

A shiver that had nothing to do with fear raced through her. She gave a small, almost imperceptible nod.

With deliberate slowness, Jude pushed the straps down her shoulders. The linen pooled at her waist, then fell completely as Leo helped it along. The night air kissed her skin, followed immediately by the heat of the fire and the heat of their attention. She was naked between them, exposed not just to her men, but to the vast, dark ocean and the cameras on the walls. A flare of old panic—*being on display, vulnerable*—was instantly eclipsed by a sharper, more potent thrill. This exposure was her choice. Her reclaiming.

Leo’s breath hitched behind her. His hands smoothed up her sides, over the delicate cage of her ribs, before spreading wide across her stomach. He didn’t avoid the raised, intricate patterns there. He worshipped them.

“So fucking beautiful,” he growled into her ear, his voice thick. “Every mark. Every line. A map of how strong you are. A map that’s just for us.”

Jude’s gaze was a physical caress, drinking her in. He leaned forward, his lips hovering over the complex scar tissue that webbed across her lower abdomen. “They tried to make you a sacrifice,” he said, his voice a dark promise. “But look at you. You’re a goddamn altar all on your own. And we’re the only ones who get to kneel here.”

His mouth, full and warm, pressed not to her skin, but to one of the oldest, thickest scars. The kiss was reverent and carnal all at once. A moan escaped her, the sound swallowed by the crash of a wave.

Leo’s hands moved up to cup her breasts, his thumbs brushing her nipples until they peaked into tight, aching points. “Hear that, Ella?” he whispered, his voice laced with dirty, delicious promise. “The whole ocean can hear you. The cameras see how perfect you are. But only we get to feel you fall apart.”

Jude’s mouth trailed lower, his stubble a delicious abrasion on her inner thigh. His blue eyes flicked up to hers, playful and dominant. “Leo’s right. Let’s give the night a show. Let’s give your ghosts a front-row seat to what real devotion feels like.”

As Jude’s head dipped between her legs, his tongue finding her with unerring precision, Leo held her tight. One hand slid down her belly, through the thatch of curls, to join his partner’s mouth. The dual sensation, the intense, watchful passion of it, tore a ragged cry from her throat. It wasn’t a sound of fear. It was a sound of pure, defiant ownership—hers of them, and theirs of her, right here on the edge of the world they protected. The past was a distant shoreline, and she was sailing blissfully, violently, away from it.

Chapter 2

Jude’s tongue was a wicked, knowing thing, tracing patterns on her sensitive flesh that made her back arch against Leo’s solid chest. Leo’s hands were everywhere, one still cupping her breast, pinching her nipple just shy of pain, the other hand guiding her own to the thick, hard length of him straining against his jeans.

“Feel what you do to me, Ella,” Leo growled into her ear, his voice rough with want. “Every time you let go, every time you trust us, it fucking wrecks me.”

Her fingers fumbled with his belt buckle, the cool metal a stark contrast to the heat radiating from him. Jude pulled back for a moment, his lips glistening in the firelight. He watched her struggle, a dark, playful smile on his face.

“Need some help, sweetheart?” Jude’s voice was a low tease.

“Yes,” she breathed, the word swallowed by the next crash of waves.

In one smooth motion, Jude undid Leo’s fly, freeing his cock. He wrapped her hand around it, his own larger hand covering hers, showing her the rhythm, the pressure Leo liked. The feeling of him, hot and pulsing in her grip, sent a fresh surge of wetness between her own legs.

“That’s it,” Leo hissed, his hips pushing up into their joined hands. “Fuck, just like that.”

Jude returned his mouth to her, but this time his fingers joined, sliding deep inside her with practiced ease. The dual sensation—his tongue circling her clit, his fingers curling just right, and her hand working Leo’s cock—unraveled her. Her moans grew louder, less controlled, lost to the vast, dark sky.

“Look at her, Leo,” Jude said, his voice muffled against her skin. He didn’t stop his relentless rhythm. “Look at our girl. She’s not hiding. She’s offering every beautiful, broken piece of herself right here on this sand. For us.”

Leo’s hand left her breast to grip her chin, turning her face to his. His blue eyes were fierce, blazing. “You hear him? You’re ours. Every scar, every tremble, every fucking tear. We see it all. And we want it all.” He kissed her, deep and consuming, his tongue claiming her mouth as his partner claimed the rest of her.

The pressure built, a coil tightening low in her belly, threatening to snap. Jude felt it, his fingers pumping faster, his tongue firm and insistent.

“Not yet, baby,” Leo murmured against her lips, breaking the kiss. He stilled her hand on him. “We’re not done showing you off.”

Jude withdrew slowly, leaving her throbbing and empty. He knelt up, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand, his gaze predatory. “Turn her over, Leo. Let the cameras see the map on her back, too.”

A thrill, sharp and electric, shot through her. Leo guided her forward, until she was on her hands and knees in the sand, facing the fire and the black ocean beyond. The cool night air brushed her heated skin, raising goosebumps. Leo positioned himself behind her, his hands smoothing over the intricate, raised scars that covered her shoulders and spine. His touch was worshipful.

“Perfect,” he whispered.

Jude moved to face her, kneeling in the sand before her. He unbuttoned his own jeans, freeing himself. He guided his cock to her lips, the broad head nudging them apart.

“Suck me, Ella,” he commanded, his voice leaving no room for doubt. “And don’t you dare take your eyes off that ocean. Let it watch. Let everything watch.”

As she took him into her mouth, tasting salt and skin, Leo pressed against her entrance from behind. He didn’t push in, just held himself there, a tantalizing, massive pressure. The world narrowed to the feel of Jude filling her mouth, the sight of the endless Pacific, and the promise of Leo, waiting to claim her from behind. The coil tightened further, a breathless, aching peak held just out of reach.

Chapter 3

“That’s it, Ella. Take every inch,” Jude commanded, his hand tangling in her hair. His hips rolled forward, pushing himself deeper into her mouth. She focused on the salty taste of him, the heavy weight on her tongue, the ragged sound of his breathing above her. All while Leo’s thick, blunt head pressed relentlessly at her entrance.

“So wet for me, baby,” Leo groaned, his voice strained. One broad hand splayed across the scarred map of her lower back, holding her steady. “This perfect, tight pussy is begging for it.”

He pushed forward, a slow, burning stretch that stole her breath around Jude’s cock. A high, muffled whine escaped her throat.

“She likes that,” Jude growled, his blue eyes gleaming with dark satisfaction. He pulled his hips back, letting her gasp in air. “Tell him, Ella. Tell him how bad you need him to fuck you.”

“Please, Leo,” she panted, the words raw. “Please, I need it.”

“Since you asked so nice,” Leo rasped.

He drove into her, a single, deep, complete thrust that buried him to the hilt. The force of it pushed her forward onto Jude, who guided himself back between her lips with a satisfied groan.

A rhythm began, brutal and perfect. Leo’s powerful strokes rocked her entire body, each forward push forcing her to take more of Jude, each withdrawal a sweet, aching emptiness. The world dissolved into sensation: the slap of skin, the guttural curses from the men, the taste of pre-cum on her tongue, the exquisite friction of Leo filling her over and over.

“Look at her, Jude,” Leo grunted, his pace increasing. “Our girl, taking us both. Fucking beautiful.”

Jude’s thumb stroked her cheek. “You’re doing so good, sweetheart. So good for us. Now make me come. Swallow every drop.”

His words, filthy and praising, coiled the tension in her belly tighter. She felt her own climax building, a terrifying wave cresting deep inside, syncing with the punishing rhythm of Leo’s hips and the urgent pulse of Jude’s cock in her mouth.

“I’m close, Leo… fuck, I’m right there,” Jude warned, his body tensing.

“Come with us, Ella,” Leo demanded, his hand clenching on her hip. “Let go. Right fucking now.”

The command shattered her. Pleasure detonated, a silent, blinding white-out that ripped through every nerve. Her body clamped down around Leo in violent, fluttering spasms. The convulsing of her throat around him tipped Jude over the edge. With a raw shout, he came, hot and bitter pulses flooding her mouth as she swallowed helplessly.

Feeling her tight channel milking him through her own orgasm drove Leo past his limit. “Fuck! Ella!” he roared, his hips stuttering as he buried himself deep and emptied into her with a shuddering groan, his release a hot flood that seemed to last forever.

For a long moment, the only sounds were the crackling fire, the ocean, and their ragged, mingled breaths. Leo slowly pulled out, collapsing onto the blanket beside her. Jude gently withdrew from her lips, his hand tenderly cupping her jaw. She sank down between them, boneless and spent, her body humming with aftershocks.

Jude wiped his thumb gently across her bottom lip. “You are a fucking masterpiece,” he whispered, his voice thick with awe.

Leo’s arm curled around her waist, his palm resting possessively on her stomach. “Every time,” he breathed into her hair. “Every time, you own us completely.”

The ghosts were silent. The only marks that mattered now were the ones they’d just made on each other.

Chapter 4

The three of them lay tangled on the blanket, the heat of the fire and their bodies warding off the ocean’s chill. Ella’s head rested on Leo’s shoulder, her leg thrown over Jude’s. The frantic energy had melted into a deep, satiated calm.

“You good, baby?” Leo asked, his voice a low rumble she felt through his chest. His fingers traced idle patterns on her bare arm.

“Mmm. More than good,” she murmured, nuzzling closer.

Jude shifted, propping himself up on an elbow to look down at her. He brushed a thumb over her cheekbone. “You were incredible out here. No shadows in those pretty eyes at all.”

“It’s hard for shadows to stick when you’re surrounded by all this light,” she said softly, looking from one to the other.

Leo’s arms tightened around her. “Damn right. That’s the whole point.” He pressed a kiss to her temple. “Sand’s getting everywhere, though. We should head back.”

They helped each other up, moving with the easy, familiar synchronicity of years. Ella pulled her linen dress back on, the fabric soft against her sensitized skin. Jude doused the fire while Leo shook out the blanket. Hand in hand, they walked up the path through the treeline, leaving the roaring ocean behind for the secure hum of the compound.

Their house was a low-slung masterpiece of glass and wood at the edge of the property. As they stepped onto the large back deck, the entire rear wall of the home was revealed—a seamless sheet of windows reflecting the star-dusted sky. Behind it, their shadowy bedroom awaited.

“Shower first,” Jude announced, leading her to the far corner of the deck where a rainfall showerhead was mounted among the cedar slats. He turned the knob, and warm water cascaded down.

Leo helped her out of the damp dress. “Arms up, sweetheart.” He peeled the fabric away, his touch lingering. “Let’s get you cleaned up.”

They stepped under the spray together, the three of them fitting easily in the spacious stall. The water was blissfully hot, sluicing the salt and sand from their skin. Leo took a bar of soap and began working up a lather on her back, his big hands moving in slow, massaging circles over the landscape of scars.

“Every time I touch these,” he said quietly, his voice almost lost in the water’s patter, “I’m just so fucking glad you’re here. That you’re ours.”

Jude took the soap next, his motions gentler as he washed her arms and chest. “He’s right, you know. This isn’t just a house. It’s a fortress we built for you. For this.” He tipped her chin up so she’d meet his eyes. “For the quiet moments after.”

Ella leaned into his touch, water streaming down her face. “I know. I feel it. I feel safe.”

They rinsed, the last grains of sand swirling down the drain. Leo wrapped her in a thick, warm towel, rubbing her dry with a tenderness that contrasted with their earlier passion. Jude did the same for himself, then slung an arm around her shoulders.

Through the wall of glass, their king-sized bed looked like an inviting cloud. The ocean was a black void beyond, but inside, the room was a pocket of golden light and safety.

“Bed,” Jude said, a simple command that held the promise of nothing more than sleep and shared warmth.

“Yeah,” Leo agreed, his hand finding the small of her back. “Let’s go watch the water until we fall asleep.”

They moved inside, the door sliding shut behind them, locking out the night and everything in it.

Chapter 5

The sleek glass door slid shut behind them, sealing the trio in their sanctuary of wood and soft light. Before they could take two steps into the living area, a soft shuffle of paws on polished concrete announced a welcome.

Thor, a massive German Shepherd with a calm, intelligent gaze, rose from his plush bed in the corner. His tail gave a single, deliberate wag as he approached, nosing gently at Ella’s hand.

“Hey, big guy,” she murmured, her voice still raspy from the sea air and passion. She sank her fingers into the thick fur of his neck. “We’re back.”

Leo chuckled, running a hand over the dog’s broad head. “Always on duty, huh? We just had her, buddy. She’s solid.”

“He’s checking your pulse,” Jude said, leaning against the kitchen island. He watched as Thor sniffed carefully at Ella’s wrists, then looked up into her face, his dark eyes searching. “What’s the verdict, Thor?”

The dog gave a soft *whuff*, licked her palm once, and then turned to pace a slow, contented circle before settling at her feet, his body a warm, living barrier between her and the door.

“See?” Jude said, a smile in his voice. “He gives the all-clear. No spiral on the horizon tonight.”

Ella smiled, a real, easy smile that reached her eyes. “He’s better than any monitor. He just… knows.”

Leo walked to the refrigerator and pulled out a bottle of water, handing it to her. “He knows because you’re safe enough here to actually be tired instead of wired. That’s the whole point of this place.” He cracked open a beer for himself and one for Jude. “Come on, let’s sit for a minute. The bed isn’t going anywhere.”

They moved to the large sectional sofa, Ella curling into one corner. Leo sat close beside her, his arm stretched along the back of the couch, his fingers playing with the ends of her damp hair. Jude took the armchair opposite, stretching his long legs out. Thor repositioned himself, lying across the floor so he touched both Ella’s foot and Leo’s.

“It was good tonight,” Ella said quietly, staring into the low flames of the gas fireplace. “On the beach. It felt… free.”

“It was,” Jude agreed, his tone thoughtful. “Because you chose it. Every second. That’s power, Ella. That’s taking it all back.”

Leo took a swig of his beer. “And you looked so fucking beautiful in the firelight. All that strength, just… shining.”

She felt a blush creep up her neck, the praise still something she was learning to accept. “It’s easier with you two. And him.” She nudged Thor gently with her toe.

“That’s the team,” Leo said, his voice firm. “Us three, and the furry guardian. Nothing gets through.”

Jude’s blue eyes held hers across the room, soft but intense. “The only marks that matter are the ones we make together. The rest are just proof you survived to get to us.”

They sat in comfortable silence for a while, the only sounds the hum of the house and Thor’s deep, even breathing. The frantic energy from the shore had settled into a profound, bone-deep contentment. The threat of the outside world, the ghosts of her past, felt distant, held at bay by walls, loyalty, and the steady heartbeat of the dog at her feet.

“Ready for sleep?” Leo finally asked, his thumb stroking her temple.

Ella nodded, a yawn catching her by surprise. “Yeah. I’m ready.”

As they stood, Thor stood with them, sticking close to Ella’s side as they moved toward the bedroom, a silent, vigilant shadow in the safe, warm dark.

Chapter 6

The bedroom was a cave of soft shadows and cool, clean sheets. Thor padded ahead of them, his nails clicking softly on the hardwood before he circled once on his large, orthopedic bed at the foot of the massive Alaskan king.

Ella slid between the cool cotton, the exhaustion from the sea air finally settling deep in her bones. She lay on her back, watching as Thor approached. He didn’t jump up. Instead, he rested his chin on the mattress near her hip, his dark eyes soft and questioning in the dim light.

“Hey, buddy,” she whispered, offering her hand.

He sniffed her palm, then her wrist, his nose moving with deliberate care up her arm. He gave a quiet, satisfied snort, his tail giving a single thump against his own bed.

“He’s doing the full scan,” Jude observed, pulling his shirt off. He watched the dog with a practiced eye.

Thor then moved to Leo’s side of the bed, repeating the gentle sniff, and finally to Jude, who scratched behind the dog’s ears. Thor licked Jude’s hand once, then turned and walked back to his own bed. He circled twice and settled down with a heavy, contented sigh, his gaze fixed on the trio.

“See?” Leo said, climbing in beside Ella. “All-clear. He’s telling us the coast is clear for the night.”

“He’s better than any therapist,” Ella murmured, rolling onto her side to face Leo. Jude slid in behind her, his body a solid wall of warmth against her back.

“He’s part of the system,” Jude agreed, his voice a low rumble near her ear. His arm draped over her waist, his hand coming to rest on Leo’s side, linking them. “The best part, maybe. No questions, just knows.”

Leo reached out, his fingers tracing the line of Ella’s jaw. “You feel steady,” he said, it wasn’t a question.

“I do,” she said. “Tired. But the good kind. The kind where your mind is quiet.”

“That’s the goal, baby,” Leo said, leaning in to press a soft kiss to her forehead. “Every night. A quiet mind.”

Jude nuzzled the back of her neck. “We’ve got you. All night. Thor’s on first watch.”

Ella let out a long, slow breath, feeling the last vestiges of tension dissolve. Sandwiched between their heat, with the rhythmic sound of Thor’s breathing from the foot of the bed, the fortified walls felt less like a barrier and more like a embrace. The cameras outside were just blinking lights. The threats were just noise.

“Love you,” she whispered into the dark, the words easy and full.

Leo’s arm tightened around her. “Love you, Ella.”

“Love you, sweetheart,” Jude murmured, his lips brushing her shoulder.

In minutes, their breathing synchronized, deep and even. Ella’s last conscious thought was a simple, profound gratitude. She was held. She was guarded. She was home. And for the first time in a long time, she knew the night would be nothing but dark, dreamless peace.

Chapter 7

The deep, synchronized rhythm of their breathing was the only sound for hours. The peace was absolute.

A low, guttural whine cut through the silence, urgent and strained. Thor was standing, his body tense, his nose pointed directly at Ella.

In the bed, Ella’s breathing had gone shallow and ragged. A small, pained whimper escaped her lips. Her hands twitched at her sides, fingers curling into the sheets.

“Leo,” Jude’s voice was a sleep-roughened whisper, but instantly alert. He was already moving, a hand on Leo’s shoulder.

Leo’s eyes snapped open. He took in the scene in a heartbeat: Thor’s focused alarm, the subtle distress on Ella’s sleeping face. “Baby,” he said softly, turning toward her. “Ella, wake up.”

She flinched, a full-body tremor wracking her frame. “No,” she mumbled, the word thick with sleep and fear. “Not the knife… please…”

“Hey, look at me. You’re here with us,” Jude said, his voice calm and firm as he shifted to face her. He cupped her cheek. “You’re safe. Open your eyes for me, sweetheart.”

Leo wrapped an arm around her, pulling her gently against his chest. “That’s it. Come back to us. Follow my voice.”

Ella’s eyelids fluttered, then opened. Hazel eyes, wide and clouded with terror, searched the dark room before finding Jude’s face, then Leo’s. The nightmare clung to her like a cold mist.

“Thor?” she breathed, her voice trembling.

“He woke us up,” Leo said, his thumb stroking her arm. “He knew before it got bad. Smartest damn dog in the world.”

A shaky sigh of relief left her. The residual fear began to dissolve, replaced by a weary gratitude. “I’m sorry I woke you.”

“Don’t you ever apologize for that,” Jude said, his tone leaving no room for argument. “That’s what we’re here for. That’s the whole point.”

Thor, seeing her awake and coherent, gave a soft *woof* and padded closer to the bed. He nudged her foot with his wet nose.

“He wants up,” Leo observed.

“Okay, buddy. Come on,” Ella whispered.

Thor didn’t need a second invitation. He hopped up with a quiet grunt and carefully settled himself across the foot of the mattress, his large body a warm, heavy weight over their ankles. Ella immediately stretched her foot out, her toes finding the soft fur of his side.

“You good?” Jude asked, his hand resting on her hip.

“Yeah,” she said, the word more solid this time. She focused on the steady rise and fall of Thor’s breathing, the solid heat of him. “I’m good. He’s here.”

“He’s on duty now,” Leo said, pressing a kiss to her temple. “We all are. Go back to sleep. We’ve got you.”

Sandwiched between the unwavering heat of her men and the guardian weight of her dog, Ella closed her eyes. The last traces of the dream scattered, unable to penetrate the fortress of their presence. Her breathing slowed, deepening again into the rhythm of true rest, anchored to the living, breathing proof of her safety.

Chapter 8

Ella awoke to the soft, solid weight of a warm body pinning her legs. Sunlight streamed through the blinds, painting stripes across the tangled sheets and Thor’s brindle fur. She blinked, her mind clear and quiet, a rare and precious stillness.

Leo stirred beside her, his arm tightening around her waist. “Morning,” he rumbled, his voice thick with sleep.

“Morning,” she whispered back, stretching as much as Thor would allow.

From Leo’s other side, Jude cracked an eye open. “He’s not moving until you do. You’re his personal weighted blanket.”

Ella smiled, scratching behind Thor’s ear. “I don’t mind.” She looked at the clock on the nightstand. “It’s past ten.”

“Saturday,” Leo said, nuzzling her shoulder. “No alarms. Clubhouse breakfast doesn’t start ‘til noon anyway.”

“You two want to go?” Jude asked, already sitting up and running a hand through his messy hair.

“Yeah,” Ella said. The idea felt good, normal. “I’m hungry.”

An hour later, they were walking the gravel path from their small house toward the main clubhouse. Ella wore a simple t-shirt and jeans, her hair in a loose braid. Leo and Jude flanked her, their presence a comfortable, unspoken shield. Thor trotted ahead, his tail a confident metronome.

The clubhouse door was propped open, the sounds of laughter and clattering plates spilling out. The smell of fried potatoes, bacon, and coffee wrapped around them like a welcome hug.

As they stepped inside, the usual Saturday morning chaos greeted them. Patched members milled around, plates loaded high. And there, at the large round table near the kitchen pass-through, sat her family.

Her dad, Marcus, with his salt-and-pepper beard and watchful eyes, looked up first. Her brothers—Jax, the president; Cole, the VP; and Finn, the treasurer—followed his gaze. The collective assessment was swift, practiced, and silent.

Thor padded straight to the table, sitting beside Marcus’s chair and offering a single, dignified wag of his tail.

Marcus leaned down, giving the dog a rough scratch. “Looking relaxed, big guy.” He then lifted his eyes to Ella. His stern face softened into a subtle, knowing smile. “You look rested, kiddo.”

“I was,” Ella said, feeling a blush creep up her neck. She didn’t need to explain. Thor’s calm, alert demeanor told them everything. A quiet night for the dog meant a quiet night for her. It was their family’s unspoken barometer.

Jax nodded, a rare, easy smile touching his lips. “Good. Coffee’s fresh.”

“We saved you some bacon,” Finn added, pushing a platter toward the empty chairs.

Cole just watched her for a long moment, his sharp eyes missing nothing. Finally, he jerked his chin toward the food. “Sit. Eat.”

The simple command, devoid of the usual protective tension, felt like an embrace. They knew. And because they knew, they could just be her family, sharing a Saturday breakfast. Ella slid into a chair, Leo and Jude settling on either side of her, and for the first time in a long time, she felt utterly, peacefully normal.

Chapter 9

Ella loaded her fork with fluffy scrambled eggs, the normalcy of the moment a warm blanket around her shoulders. The easy silence was broken by Jax, who pushed his empty plate away and sighed, a sound of deep, personal defeat.

“I went on a date last night,” he announced to the table.

Cole snorted into his coffee. “Let me guess. She had a ‘vision board’ and asked about your star sign before the appetizers arrived.”

“Worse,” Jax grumbled, crossing his tattooed arms. “Met her at the grocery store. The organic kale section. She seemed… solid. We talked recipes.” He shook his head, a muscle ticking in his jaw. “Dinner was at that new bistro downtown. She spent forty minutes explaining the vibrational energy of crystals and how my ‘aura’ was clogged with ‘patriarchal static.’ Suggested a five-hundred-dollar cleansing session.”

Jude choked on a laugh, covering it with a cough. Leo just smirked, his arm resting on the back of Ella’s chair.

“What’d you do?” Finn asked, leaning forward.

“I told her my only cleansing ritual involved a motorcycle and an open road,” Jax said flatly. “She called me spiritually stunted. The check came.”

A ripple of laughter went around the table. Ella felt her own smile widen.

“You’re one to talk, Cole,” Finn jabbed. “What about that lawyer you saw? The one who ‘appreciated direct communication’?”

Cole’s cool demeanor cracked into a scowl. “She appreciated direct communication, all right. Over dessert, she slid a pre-nup across the table. Had it drafted after our first coffee. Said it was ‘efficient.’”

“Efficient?” Ella giggled.

“Her word. I told her my club’s bylaws were the only binding contract I was interested in.” Cole shrugged. “She left. Took the dessert wine with her.”

Finn raised his hands in surrender. “Okay, my turn. Matched with a nurse online. Seemed great. Tough, compassionate, you know? Our first date, we went for a walk on the pier. A seagull stole my hot dog. I laughed. She burst into tears.”

Leo blinked. “Over the hot dog?”

“No,” Finn said, deadpan. “She said my laughter in the face of ‘avian theft’ showed a profound lack of empathy for the ‘struggle of all living creatures.’ She said she couldn’t be with someone who found joy in another’s predatory success. Then she gave the remaining half of her pretzel to the same seagull.”

The table erupted. Ella laughed so hard she had to wipe a tear from her eye, leaning into Leo’s side. The sound of her own unfiltered joy was a melody she was still getting used to.

As the laughter settled, she looked at her three older brothers, their tough exteriors momentarily softened by their own ridiculous stories. A playful, daring thought occurred to her.

“You know,” Ella said, her voice light but clear. “I’m starting to notice a pattern here. Maybe it’s not the kale enthusiasts or the pre-nup peddlers.” She took a sip of her juice, meeting each of their gazes with a gentle tease. “Maybe you three just have a tiny, itsy-bitsy… commitment issue.”

A profound, comical silence fell over the table. Marcus coughed, hiding a smile behind his hand. Jax, Cole, and Finn stared at her, their expressions a mixture of mock outrage and stunned amusement.

Cole recovered first. “Says the woman in a five-year triad who lives in a fortress,” he shot back, but his eyes were warm.

“Exactly,” Ella said, smiling softly at Leo and Jude beside her. “I found my commitment. You’re all just… auditioning.”

Jax threw a balled-up napkin at her, which Thor promptly intercepted and began shredding. The mood lifted again, filled with playful ribbing and the comfortable chaos of family. Ella felt a quiet, powerful satisfaction settle in her chest. She was not just the protected little sister anymore. She was one of them, giving as good as she got, anchored in a love so secure she could joke about its edges.

Chapter 10

The laughter around the breakfast table died down into a comfortable, sunny quiet. Marcus stood to start clearing plates, the mundane task a grounding anchor to the morning’s levity. Jax leaned back in his chair, his gaze drifting from Ella to Leo and Jude, who sat flanking her like affectionate sentinels.

“You know,” Jax said, his tone shifting from mock-wounded to something softer, more reflective. “The kid’s got a point. Maybe we do have a… thing.” He gestured vaguely in the air. “But look at you three.”

Cole nodded, following his brother’s line of sight. “No auditions. No first-date interrogations. You just… knew.”

Finn chuckled. “Yeah, you skipped the whole damn circus. Went straight to the main event.”

Ella felt a blush warm her cheeks, but it was a good warmth. She glanced at Leo, whose hand had found hers under the table, and then at Jude, who gave her a slow, knowing wink.

“It wasn’t that simple,” Ella said quietly, her voice carrying in the calm. “It wasn’t a first date. It was just… Leo and Jude. They were always just… there.” She squeezed Leo’s hand. “In the clubhouse, on runs, at the shop when I first started apprenticing. They were my friends before they were anything else.”

Jude’s arm draped over the back of her chair, his fingers playing with the ends of her hair. “Took me six months to get up the nerve to ask if I could kiss her,” he admitted, a rare, slight sheepishness in his confession. “Thought your dad would skin me alive.”

“He considered it,” Jax grunted, but he was smiling.

Leo’s thumb stroked the back of Ella’s hand. “And I spent a year just making sure she laughed. Really laughed. Not the polite one, but the one where her nose scrunches up.” He nudged her shoulder with his, and she smiled, her nose scrunching exactly as described.

“See?” Cole said, shaking his head with a rueful smile. “You didn’t ‘date.’ You built a goddamn foundation. We’re out here trying to pitch a tent on quicksand.”

The analogy was so perfectly Cole that it Leo another round of soft laughter. Ella leaned into the combined warmth of her partners, the safety of it as tangible as the morning sun streaming through the window.

“It’s not a home run,” she corrected gently, looking at her brothers. “It’s just… home. You’ll find yours. Maybe it won’t look like mine, but it’ll be yours.”

Finn pushed his chair back, the legs scraping against the tile. “Until then,” he sighed, good-naturedly, “there are always club girls who know the score. No aura-cleansing required.”

As the group began to disperse, the easy rhythm of a compound morning taking over, Ella stayed nestled between Leo and Jude. The conversation had woven another thread into the tapestry of her normalcy—a gentle teasing that held no sting, only family. It was another kind of protection, she realized. Not walls or cameras, but the unshakeable certainty of belonging, right where she was.

Chapter 11

The rumble of motorcycles faded as the men disappeared into the clubhouse for “church.” The heavy door thudded shut, a sound that always signaled a shift in the compound’s energy. Ella watched them go, Leo’s hand lifting in a final, casual wave over his shoulder before he vanished inside.

“Come on,” a familiar voice called. “They’ll be hours.”

Ella turned to see Chloe leaning against the porch rail of the main house, a smile playing on her lips. Sienna and Misha were already settled in the shaded Adirondack chairs on the lawn, a pitcher of iced tea between them.

Thor, ever vigilant, pressed his side against Ella’s leg as she walked over. He settled at her feet with a heavy sigh, his head on his paws, eyes watchful.

“He’s on duty, I see,” Sienna said, nodding at the dog. Her tone was light, but her gaze was knowing.

“Always,” Ella replied, sinking into the empty chair. The familiarity of the scene, of these women, was a balm. “You know Jude and Leo. They feel better if he’s with me.”

“We all feel better,” Misha corrected gently, pouring Ella a glass of tea. The ice clinked softly. “It’s not about them not trusting us. It’s about layers. We’re one. He’s another.”

Chloe dropped into the last chair, tucking her feet underneath her. “How are you, really? After last night? Pyro said Leo mentioned you had a rough one.”

The directness was pure Chloe. It was why Ella loved her. There was no tiptoeing, just the sturdy net of shared understanding.

“It was,” Ella admitted, her fingers finding the cool condensation on her glass. “But it was… handled. They handled it. Thor woke them up. It was over fast.”

Sienna’s eyes softened. “That’s what it’s supposed to be like. The bad thing happens, and the people who love you contain it. It doesn’t get to spill out and ruin everything after.”

“Exactly,” Ella said, the truth of it settling in her chest. “This morning, it already felt distant. Like a storm that passed over the ocean.”

Misha smiled. “And now you’re here with us, drinking terrible sun-tea, while our men are in there arguing about God-knows-what.”

“Probably the price of chrome,” Chloe snorted.

The easy laughter that followed felt sacred in its own way. Thor’s ear twitched at the sound, but he didn’t move from his post.

“Do you ever miss it?” Ella asked after a moment, looking at her three friends. “The clubs you grew up in?”

Sienna shook her head, her dark curls bouncing. “Miss the people, sure. My mom. My cousins. But this…” She gestured around the secure, sun-dappled compound. “This is home now. It’s where our men are. It’s where you are.”

“It’s the same family, just a different patch,” Chloe agreed. “We all knew the life. We all married into it. The only variable was which charter we’d end up at. I’m glad ours was here.”

Ella watched Thor’s steady breathing, his complete alertness even at rest. He was a symbol, but he was also just her dog. These women were her sisters, but they were also just her friends, gossiping on a Saturday afternoon.

“You know,” Misha said, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. “Saint told me Reaper’s trying to convince the table to buy a goddamn food truck for the compound. To ‘diversify revenue streams.’”

A burst of laughter escaped Ella, loud and genuine. Thor’s tail thumped once on the grass in response.

“See?” Chloe said, grinning. “This is the good stuff. The normal stuff. The bad stuff doesn’t get to have this.”

Ella leaned back in her chair, the sun warm on her face, surrounded by the quiet hum of female companionship and the solid, silent protection of the dog at her feet. The clubhouse door remained closed, the men inside their world. Out here, in the safe, simple sunlight, she was perfectly, peacefully at home.

Chapter 12

The laughter died in Ella’s throat as she saw the young prospect walking toward them across the lawn. He was new—she didn’t know his name yet—his face earnest and slightly nervous under his cut. Thor lifted his head, a low, inquisitive sound rumbling in his chest.

“Ladies,” the prospect said, nodding respectfully. “Sorry to interrupt. There’s a gentleman at the main gate asking to speak with Amethyst Cantor.” He glanced at his clipboard. “Says it’s important.”

The name hit Ella like a physical blow. The glass of iced tea slipped from her hand, shattering on the flagstones. A sharp, cold dread flooded her veins, and the peaceful afternoon sun suddenly felt like a blinding interrogation light.

Thor was on his feet in an instant, a deep, warning growl vibrating through his massive frame as he pressed his body firmly between Ella and the prospect, his eyes fixed on the young man.

“What did you say?” Chloe asked, her voice dangerously calm.

“Amethyst Cantor,” the prospect repeated, confused by the sudden shift in atmosphere.

“That name isn’t used here,” Misha stated, her tone icy. She was already moving, crouching beside Ella’s chair. “Look at me, Ella. Breathe.”

But Ella couldn’t breathe. The world was tilting. *Cantor*. The name was a key turned in a lock she’d sealed shut years ago. It echoed with chanting, with cold stone altars, with the scent of incense and blood.

“Hey, whoa,” the prospect said, taking a step back from Thor’s display. “I didn’t know—”

“You need to go,” Sienna commanded, already standing. Her voice was steady, but her eyes were blazing. “Now. Go back to the gate, do not engage, and do not let that person past the perimeter. I’m getting the men.”

The prospect paled and nodded, hurrying back toward the front of the compound.

Sienna turned to Ella. “I’ll get them. You’re safe. You hear me? You are safe right here.” She didn’t wait for a response, breaking into a run toward the clubhouse.

Chloe knelt on Ella’s other side, taking one of her cold, trembling hands. “Listen to Misha. Look at her. In for four, hold for four.”

“It’s just a name,” Misha coached softly, her face close to Ella’s. “It’s a ghost. It has no power here. You are Amethyst Van Zant. You are right here with us. Feel Thor.”

Ella’s frantic gaze dropped to the dog. Thor had shifted his stance, now sitting heavily against her legs, his warm, solid weight a tether to the present. He licked her wrist once, a rough, real sensation.

“He found me,” Ella whispered, the words choked. “How did he find me?”

“It doesn’t matter,” Chloe said firmly. “Because he’s *out there*, and you are *in here*. Behind twenty-foot walls. With an army between you and him. With us.”

The heavy clubhouse door burst open. Leo and Jude exploded out onto the porch, followed closely by Saint, Pyro, and Ella’s brothers. Their faces were hardened masks of fury and intent. They didn’t run; they stalked, a wave of lethal purpose moving across the grass toward the front gate.

But Leo and Jude broke from the group, veering straight for the circle of chairs. Their focus was entirely on her.

Jude reached her first, his hands cupping her face. “Eyes on me, baby. What did you hear?”

“A man… Amethyst Cantor,” she managed.

Leo’s jaw tightened, a muscle feathering. He placed a broad hand on Thor’s head. “Good boy.” Then he looked at Ella, his blue eyes blazing with a protective fire that scorched away some of the ice in her chest. “That name is dead. You killed it. Some fool is just too stupid to read the obituary. We’re going to go… educate him.”

“Stay with Chloe and Misha,” Jude ordered, his thumb stroking her cheek. “Right here. Don’t move. We’ll be back in five minutes.”

They turned and strode after the others, their forms merging with the group of men now gathered at the compound’s fortified entrance. Ella watched them go, her breath still shallow, but the spiral had halted. It was held at bay by the hands holding hers, by the dog leaning into her, and by the sight of her men walking, shoulder-to-shoulder with her family, to stand between her and the past.

Chapter 13

The men at the gate stood like a wall of leather and fury. Leo, Jude, Jax, Cole, and Finn formed the front line, with Saint and Pyro flanking them. They were a silent, intimidating blockade between the compound and the nervous-looking man clutching a thick manila envelope on the other side of the reinforced steel bars.

He was in his fifties, with thinning hair and glasses that kept slipping down his nose. He looked every bit the weasel.

“I need to speak with Amethyst Cantor. It is imperative,” the man insisted, his voice a reedy whine that grated against the quiet.

“That name doesn’t exist here,” Jax, the club president, stated flatly. “You’re at the wrong address.”

“I have to serve these documents personally,” the man persisted, trying to peer around the massive men.

“You’re not serving shit,” Jude growled, his hand resting on the heavy lock of the gate.

The tension was a live wire when Marcus arrived. His presence caused a subtle shift; the wall of men parted just enough for him to step to the front. His eyes, the same hazel as his daughter’s, were cold chips of flint.

“What’s the problem?” Marcus’s voice was calm, the calm of a depth charge before it explodes.

The weasel puffed up. “And you are?”

“I am Marcus Van Zant. Power of attorney for my daughter, Amethyst Van Zant. Any business you have is with me.”

The man blinked, flustered. “My documentation states—”

“Your documentation is out of date. Prospect,” Marcus said without turning his head. A young man snapped to attention. “Go to my office. In the top left desk drawer, there’s a black file labeled ‘VZ-GA’. Bring it here.”

As the prospect sprinted off, the standoff continued in heavy silence. The weasel fidgeted. Leo cracked his knuckles, the sound unnaturally loud. Finally, the prospect returned, panting, and handed Marcus a sleek folder.

Marcus pulled out the notarized documents and slid them through the narrow gap in the gate bars. “Read it. Take your time.”

The man did, his lips moving silently as he scanned each page. He flipped back and forth, his nervousness mounting under the weight of eight hostile stares. After several long minutes, his shoulders slumped in defeat.

“This appears to be in order,” he conceded, handing the papers back.

“It is,” Marcus said, tucking the folder under his arm. “Now, you were leaving.”

“I still have to serve these,” the man said, hefting the large envelope.

“Serve them to me. I am her legal representative.”

With a final, defeated sigh, the man pushed the thick file through the bars. Marcus took its weight easily.

“You have been served, Mr. Van Zant, on behalf of your daughter, Amethyst Van Zant, formerly Cantor,” the man recited, then turned and almost scurried back to his sedan.

The gate clanged shut with finality. The men didn’t move until the car’s taillights disappeared down the long, private road.

Marcus hefted the file. “Pyro, Saint—sweep the perimeter road. Make sure he’s gone and didn’t leave any surprises. The rest of you, with me.”

As they walked back toward the heart of the compound, the contained rage began to simmer into words.

“What’s in it, Dad?” Finn asked, his voice tight.

“Legal harassment. Has to be,” Marcus said, his jaw clenched. “Another petition for guardianship, another motion to overturn the POA. They’re trying to bury us in paper and legal fees, wear her down through the system.”

“They can try,” Leo spat, his hand curling into a fist. “They won’t get close.”

Jude’s face was a stone mask. “He knew her old name. They tracked her here, to a private, secured compound. This wasn’t a blind shot.”

Marcus stopped, turning to face the group. The fire in his eyes was for his daughter. “It changes nothing. The walls are still twenty feet high. The family is still right here. And she is still safe.” He looked at the file in his hand, then toward the garden where his daughter was surrounded by her chosen sisters. “Let’s go tell her it’s handled.”

Chapter 14

The group of men moved with a grim purpose toward the garden, the thick envelope a physical weight in Marcus’s hand. They found Ella on a stone bench, bracketed by Chloe, Sienna, and Misha. Thor was pressed against her legs, his head in her lap, a low, steady rumble in his chest as he watched the approaching men.

Ella’s eyes lifted, wide and searching, finding Jude and Leo first. They moved to her instantly, not touching her yet, but their presence a solid wall at her back. Thor whined softly, nuzzling her hand.

“It’s okay, baby,” Jude murmured, his voice a low anchor. “We’re all here.”

“What were the papers, Dad?” Ella asked, her voice thin.

Marcus sat heavily on the bench opposite her. “I haven’t looked yet, sweetheart.”

She swallowed, her gaze flicking to the envelope. “Will you look? Please. I need to know.”

He held her gaze, then gave a single, slow nod. He slid the contents onto the stone table. Her oldest brother, Jax, stepped forward, his jaw tight. “I’ll do it.”

The silence was absolute, broken only by the rustle of legal paper. Jax’s face darkened with each page he scanned. Cole and Finn read over his shoulders, their expressions hardening into identical masks of cold rage.

“What is it?” Ella whispered.

Jax looked up, his eyes blazing. “It’s a petition. For total and permanent guardianship of Amethyst Cantor. Filed by Lilith and the stepfucker.”

A collective, seething inhale came from the brothers. Leo’s hand settled on Ella’s shoulder, his thumb stroking the column of her neck. Jude’s arm went around her waist.

“There’s more,” Cole bit out, snatching another document. “Motion to strip Dad of his power of attorney and guardianship. Claiming he’s unfit and that you are, by reason of your… mental state, incapable of managing your own affairs.”

The words hung in the air, toxic and familiar. Ella felt the old, icy fingers of panic begin to claw at her ribs. Her breath hitched. Thor lifted his head, licking her wrist. Leo leaned down, his lips near her ear.

“Breathe, Ella. In through your nose. Look at me.” She turned her head, meeting his blue eyes. “They’re just words on paper. They mean nothing here. You’re safe.”

Jude’s hand splayed over her stomach, covering the scars beneath her shirt. “Feel my hand. Feel Thor. We’re right here. They can’t touch you.”

She focused on the pressure, the warmth, the living proof against her skin. The spiral slowed, receded.

Marcus’s voice cut through, calm and decisive. “This is legal harassment. A tactic to drain us and scare her. But we have the ultimate defense.” He looked at Ella, his gaze fierce with love. “You. You were the one who set up the guardianship with me. A sane, adult choice to protect yourself. That’s our foundation.”

“What do we do?” Finn asked, his voice tight.

“We call Bobby,” Marcus said, pulling out his phone. “Robert Moreno. He’s been fighting these battles for you since you were in diapers, Ella. He knows every trick they have.”

A faint, fragile sense of relief touched Ella. “Uncle Bobby.”

“Exactly,” Marcus said, a grim smile touching his lips as he dialed. “Let’s see how they like going up against him.”

Chapter 15

The grim tension in the garden shifted, hardening into a plan of action.

“Bobby’s on his way,” Marcus said, ending the call and sliding his phone back into his pocket. “He’ll meet us at the clubhouse in an hour. He’s already drafting the counter-motions.”

Ella let out a slow breath she hadn’t realized she was holding. “Okay.”

“Okay,” Leo echoed softly, his thumb still stroking her neck.

Before anyone could say more, Jax’s phone buzzed loudly on the stone table. He snatched it up, his brow furrowing at the screen. “It’s Sheriff Riggs.” He put it on speaker. “Tank? You’re on speaker with the family.”

“Jax. Marcus,” came a gravelly, familiar voice. “We’ve got a problem. Your ex and her husband just left my office. They filed an official missing persons report on Amethyst. They’re claiming she’s being mentally manipulated and held against her will at your compound.”

A fresh wave of icy dread washed through Ella. Jude’s arm tightened around her waist.

“That’s absolute horseshit, Tom, and you know it,” Marcus said, his voice dangerously calm.

“Of course I know it,” Sheriff Riggs replied, a note of weary frustration in his tone. “I served with you, Marcus. I’ve known Ella since she was in diapers. But a report is a report. Protocol says I have to close it out, and to do that, I need a voluntary statement from her, confirming she’s here of her own free will and is not under duress.”

The silence stretched. Ella felt every eye on her.

“Where does she need to give this statement?” Jax asked, his voice tight.

“My office would be standard,” the sheriff said. “But given the circumstances, and who filed the report…”

Marcus cut in. “Tom, you know they’ll have people watching the station. They’ve tried to grab her from court buildings before. I’m not moving her outside these walls.”

“I figured you’d say that,” Riggs sighed. “I can come to you. It’s irregular, but given the credible threat assessment, I can justify it. We’ll keep it off the official log. Can you have her in your clubhouse office in, say, ninety minutes?”

“Yes,” Marcus said without hesitation. “We’ll be ready. And thank you, Tom.”

“Just doing my job, Marcus. Keeping people safe. See you soon.”

The call ended. The weight of the two converging legal threats—the guardianship petition and now the missing persons report—settled over the group like a physical shroud.

Finn broke the quiet. “They’re boxing her in. Using the system to force a confrontation.”

“They’re trying to scare her,” Jude said, his voice a low rumble of certainty. He turned Ella gently to face him, his blue eyes capturing hers. “They think paperwork and cops will make you feel small. Make you run. They don’t know you at all, do they?”

Ella shook her head, a spark of defiance cutting through the fear. “No. They don’t.”

Leo leaned in, his bearded cheek brushing her temple. “You’ll tell the sheriff the truth. That you’re home. That you’re safe. That you’re loved. That’s all you have to do.”

“And Uncle Bobby will handle the rest,” Cole added, gathering the disturbing papers back into the envelope.

Marcus stood. “Alright. Everyone take a breath. Jax, Cole—get the clubhouse office ready. Finn, double-check the gate logs and perimeter cameras for the last 48 hours. I want to know if any unfamiliar vehicles have even slowed down near us.” He looked at Ella, Leo, and Jude. “You three, go inside. Get centered. We’ve got your back. All of us.”

As the brothers moved off with purposeful strides, Leo and Jude helped Ella to her feet. Thor pressed against her leg, a warm, steady presence.

“Come on, baby,” Jude murmured, his hand finding hers. “Let’s go home. You’ve got a statement to prepare, and we’ve got you.”

Chapter 16

The walk back to their house was a silent bubble of tension. Thor, his ears alert and nose to the wind, paced a protective circle around them, his gaze constantly scanning the deepening twilight.

Once inside, Jude locked the door, engaging the heavy deadbolts with a solid *thunk-thunk*. Leo went straight to the security panel, his fingers flying over the screen to activate the interior motion sensors. The familiar, quiet hum of the system was their lullaby.

Thor didn’t relax. He stationed himself by the front window, a massive, watchful silhouette against the glass, his head turning to track every distant sound. His vigilance was a comfort, but it also underscored the threat still lurking in the paperwork and lies.

Ella stood in the center of the living room, the adrenaline from the garden finally ebbing, leaving a hollow, shaky feeling in its wake. The legal words—*guardianship*, *missing persons*—swirled in her head, a toxic mantra. She wrapped her arms around herself, her fingers brushing the raised lines beneath her shirt.

“Hey,” Jude said softly, coming to stand before her. He tipped her chin up with a gentle finger. “Look at me. They’re not here. It’s just us.”

“I know,” she whispered, her voice thin. “But my head… it’s so loud. I can hear her voice. I can smell the incense from the damn cleansing room.” A violent shiver ran through her. “I need… I need to not be in my head. I need to feel you. Just you. Please. I need to forget for a bit.”

Leo moved behind her, his warmth pressing against her back. “Tell us what you need, baby. We’ll give you anything.”

She turned in his arms, looking from his concerned blue eyes to Jude’s intense gaze. “I need you to make me feel real. I need you to remind me who I belong to. I need the kind of forgetting that only you two can give me.”

Jude’s expression shifted from concern to a dark, understanding heat. He cupped her face, his thumb stroking her lower lip. “You want us to wipe it all away? Every ghost, every piece of paper, every lie?”

“Yes,” she breathed, the word a plea and a command.

“Then get on your knees,” Leo said, his voice dropping to that dominant rumble that went straight to her core. “Right here. Show us how badly you need to forget.”

A tremor of pure, electric submission raced through her. Without hesitation, she sank to the floor between them on the thick rug. The cool air of the room kissed her skin as Jude knelt before her. Leo remained standing behind her, a tower of solid muscle and control.

Jude undid his belt with a sharp *zip*, the sound stark in the quiet room. “Open that pretty mouth for me, Ella. Let’s start there.”

She obeyed, tilting her head back, her hazel eyes locked on his. He freed himself, his cock already hard and thick in his hand. He guided himself to her lips, and she took him in, the familiar weight and taste an immediate anchor. She hollowed her cheeks, her tongue working along his length with a desperate focus, pouring every ounce of her need into the act.

“That’s it,” Jude groaned, his fingers tangling gently in her brown hair. “Suck me deep. Use my cock to push every other thought out of that beautiful head.”

Behind her, Leo’s hands found the hem of her shirt. He pulled it up and over her head, then made quick work of her bra. His calloused palms smoothed over her bare shoulders, then slid down to cup her breasts, his thumbs circling her nipples until they were tight, aching points.

“Look at you,” Leo growled, leaning down so his bearded cheek brushed her ear. “On your knees, taking Jude so perfectly. Our good girl. Our sanctuary. This is the only truth that matters, Ella. This feeling. Our hands on you. Your mouth on him.”

She moaned around Jude’s length, the vibration drawing a sharper groan from him. The dual sensations—the fullness in her mouth, Leo’s expert hands on her breasts and the scars on her stomach he traced with reverence—were a tidal wave washing over the jagged edges in her mind. The chants faded. The scent of incense was replaced by the clean, masculine smell of her men.

Blike pulled back slightly, his cock glistening from her mouth. “Stand up. Turn around. Put your hands on the back of the couch.”

Her legs trembled as she rose. Leo helped her, his hands firm on her hips as she turned and bent forward, bracing herself. He yanked her leggings and panties down in one rough, swift motion, leaving her exposed. The cool air was a shock, followed by the searing heat of his gaze.

“So fucking perfect,” Leo muttered, his palm landing a sharp, stinging smack on her ass cheek. The pain was a bright, clean flare that burned away the last clinging threads of panic. “This ass, this pussy, this skin… it’s ours. Say it.”

“It’s yours,” she gasped, pushing back against his hand.

She heard the tear of a foil packet, then the slick sound of Leo sheathing himself. A moment later, the broad, blunt head of his cock pressed against her entrance from behind. He didn’t push in. He just held it there, a promise of oblivion.

“Beg for it, Ella,” Jude commanded, coming to stand beside the couch where she could see him. He stroked himself, his blue eyes blazing. “Beg for your forgetfulness.”

“Please, Leo,” she cried, pushing back helplessly. “Please, fuck me. I need it. I need you to make me forget everything that isn’t you.”

With a guttural sound of approval, Leo drove into her in one deep, claiming stroke, filling her utterly. She screamed, the sound muffled by her arm. It was a perfect, brutal fullness that shattered the last of her fear.

“That’s it,” Leo panted, setting a relentless, deep rhythm. “Let it all go. Give it to me.”

Jude leaned over the couch, capturing her mouth in a searing kiss, sharing the taste of himself with her. “We’ve got you,” he whispered against her lips, his hand sliding down to where Leo was joining with her, his fingers finding her clit. “We’ll always bring you back. Now come for us. Come on his cock. Show us you’re here.”

The coil in her belly, wound tight by fear and need, snapped under the dual assault. The climax tore through her, a silent, shuddering wave that wiped her mind clean of everything but sensation—Leo’s deep, pounding thrusts, Jude’s clever fingers, the possessive growls of her men, and the steadfast, guarding presence of Thor by the window, ensuring their sanctuary remained unbroken.

Chapter 17

Leo’s thrusts grew harder, a punishing, claiming rhythm that drove her higher with every snap of his hips. Jude’s mouth was on hers, his tongue plunging in time with his partner’s cock, stealing her breath and her sanity. His fingers worked her clit with ruthless precision.

“That’s it, baby,” Leo grunted, his hands gripping her hips hard enough to bruise. “Take it. Take all of me. Show Jude how well you fuck for us.”

She was a quivering mess between them, every nerve screaming. The climax Leo and Jude were orchestrating coiled tight, a spring ready to break. Just as she felt herself begin to topple over the edge, Leo pulled out with a wet sound, his body sheened with sweat.

“Switch,” Jude commanded, his voice ragged with lust.

In a fluid motion, Jude moved behind her as Leo stepped to the side, chest heaving. Jude didn’t hesitate. He guided himself to her soaked, desperate entrance and slammed home, filling the shocking emptiness Leo had left.

Ella cried out, the new angle, the different feel of him, sending fresh sparks through her overloaded system.

“My turn,” Jude growled, setting a deep, relentless pace. He wrapped a hand in her hair, tilting her head back. “Look at him. Look at Leo while I fuck his come deeper into you.”

Leo stood before them, watching with blazing blue eyes as Jude took her. He stroked his own hard length, his gaze locked on where their bodies joined. “Look at that, Ella. Look how beautiful you are taking him. Your pussy is so greedy for us.”

“She’s perfect,” Jude panted, his thrusts becoming brutal, possessive. “All ours. Every scar, every cry, every fucking tremble. You feel that, Leo? She’s shaking apart on my cock.”

“Make her come,” Leo ordered, his voice a dark thrill. “I want to watch her fall. I want to see her forget her own name.”

Jude’s free hand snaked around her hip, finding her clit again. The dual stimulation, the voyeuristic heat of Leo’s rapt attention, and the raw, verbal possession shattered her.

The orgasm detonated, a silent, seismic wave that tore through her with violent force. Her muscles clamped around Jude, milking him as a broken, sobbing wail was ripped from her throat.

The sensation triggered Jude’s own release. With a roar, he buried himself to the hilt, his body locking as he emptied himself inside her in hot, pulsing jets.

For a long moment, the only sounds were their ragged breaths and the crackle of the security system. Slowly, Jude softened and slipped out, his hands gentle now as he steadied her trembling body.

Leo was there in an instant, gathering her against his chest as he lowered them both to the rug. Jude sank down beside them, his hand stroking her damp hair.

“Gone?” Leo murmured into her temple, his voice soft.

“Gone,” she whispered, boneless and cleansed. The ghosts were silent. The paperwork was ash. There was only this: the beat of their hearts, the solid warmth of them, and the loyal silhouette of Thor, still guarding their peace from the window.

Chapter 18

Ella lay panting on the rug, her body humming with the force of her release. Leo’s grip on her loosened, his lips soft against her temple. But Jude’s hand, still stroking her hair, had a new tension in it.

“Look at her, Leo,” Jude said, his voice a low, hungry murmur. “She’s floating. But she’s not deep enough. Not yet.”

Leo shifted, his gaze locking with Jude’s in silent understanding. “You want to take her under.”

“I want to own the space under her thoughts. Completely.” Jude’s fingers traced the shell of her ear. “Get up on your knees, baby. Face Leo.”

Her limbs felt like liquid, but the command in his tone pulled her upright. She knelt before Leo, who was still gloriously hard. Jude moved behind her, his chest a solid wall of heat against her back.

“Watch his eyes,” Jude instructed, his mouth at her ear. “You don’t look away. You take every inch of him, and you keep your eyes open. Show him how much you love his cock.”

Leo’s hands framed her face, his thumbs stroking her cheeks. “You hear him, Ella? You’re gonna be our good girl. You’re gonna let Jude steer you, and you’re gonna fuck me with everything you’ve got.”

He guided himself to her, the thick head nudging her slick entrance. Jude’s hands settled on her hips, his grip absolute. “Now,” Jude commanded.

He pulled her down at the same moment Leo thrust up, sheathing himself inside her in one smooth, devastating stroke. Ella gasped, the full, stretching sensation pulling a ragged moan from her throat.

“Eyes,” Jude reminded her, his voice a dark whisper. “Look at him.”

She forced her heavy lids open, her hazel eyes meeting Leo’s fierce blue ones. He was watching her with raw possession, his jaw tight.

“That’s my girl,” Leo breathed. “So fucking perfect for us.”

Jude set the rhythm, his hands on her hips controlling every rise and fall. He moved her on Leo’s cock with deliberate, deep strokes, each one pushing her further from coherent thought.

“You feel that, Leo?” Jude growled, his own arousal evident in the rough edge of his voice. “She’s letting go. She’s giving us all of it.”

“I feel it,” Leo grunted, his hands sliding down to cup her breasts, pinching her nipples. “Her pussy is clutching me like it’s afraid I’ll leave. Isn’t that right, baby? You need it?”

“Yes,” she whimpered, the word barely audible.

“Louder,” Jude demanded, increasing the pace, driving her down harder.

“Yes! I need it, I need you!” she cried, the confession torn from her.

“You have us,” Leo promised, his thrusts meeting her downward motions perfectly. “You have me. Jude’s got you. We’re right here. Now let go. Fall for us.”

The command, the dual sensation of being filled and controlled, the intense visual connection with Leo as Jude dominated her from behind—it shattered the last of her will. The world narrowed to the slap of skin, their guttural sounds, and the overwhelming pressure coiling in her core.

Jude felt the change in her, the utter pliancy. “She’s there,” he announced, a note of triumph in his voice. “Now make her come, Leo. Fuck her through it.”

With a final, anchoring look into her glassy, submissive eyes, Leo snapped his hips up with brutal force, holding her tight as he pounded into her. The orgasm ripped through her, silent and total, a white-hot seizure of pleasure that left her shaking violently, her inner muscles fluttering around him in helpless, endless pulses.

It pulled Leo over the edge. With a choked roar, he buried himself to the hilt, his release flooding her in hot, claiming waves as he held her trembling form against him.

Jude kept his firm grip on her hips, supporting her as she rode out the storm, his lips pressed to her shoulder. “Beautiful,” he murmured into her damp skin. “So deep. You’re home.”

She was limp between them, mind blissfully blank, held safely in the cradle of their dominance and care. The subspace was absolute, a silent, peaceful ocean where nothing from the past could reach her.

Chapter 19

For a timeless moment, Ella existed in a silent, weightless sea. The world was a soft hum, the feel of Leo inside her and Jude’s hands on her hips the only anchors in the pleasant void. Slowly, sensation began to seep back in: the cool air on her sweat-damp skin, the deep, steadying thump of Leo’s heart against her back, the scratch of Jude’s stubble on her shoulder.

“Easy, baby,” Leo murmured, his voice a low rumble in her ear as he gently eased her off of him. He kept his arms locked around her, turning her so she could slump bonelessly against his chest.

Blike moved immediately, shifting to wrap himself around her from the front, creating a warm, solid cage of muscle and care. He cupped her cheek, his thumb stroking her jawline. “Look at you,” he said, his voice soft with awe. “All the way down. You did so good for us.”

Ella blinked slowly, her hazel eyes struggling to focus. A soft, incoherent sound of contentment was all she could manage.

Leo chuckled, the vibration soothing against her spine. “Words aren’t needed, sweetheart. We’ve got you.” He pressed a kiss to the top of her head, his hands making slow, sweeping passes up and down her back, carefully avoiding any lingering sensitivity.

“How do you feel?” Jude asked, his blue eyes searching hers intently, checking in.

“Safe,” she whispered, the word feeling profound and complete. “Loved.”

Jude’s expression softened, the usual confident edge replaced by pure tenderness. “You are. So loved.” He leaned in, capturing her lips in a kiss that was achingly gentle, a stark contrast to the commanding passion of minutes before.

Leo nuzzled her hair. “That’s our only job, you know. Making sure you never forget that feeling.”

They held her there on the rug, the fire crackling beside them, as the last tremors of her subspace faded into a deep, satiated calm. The frantic thoughts, the legal fears, the echo of chants—all of it was held at bay by the fortress of their bodies and their quiet, affirming words.

“Think you can stand?” Leo asked after a long while, his voice still hushed.

“Mmm, maybe,” she murmured, though she made no move to leave their embrace.

Jude smiled. “That’s a no.” He looked over her head at Leo. “Blanket and pillow fort? Right here.”

“Best idea you’ve had all night,” Leo agreed, already shifting to reach for the throw blanket draped over the couch.

As they settled her between them on a nest of blankets, cocooned in warmth and protection, Ella felt the final tension leave her body. Here, in the aftermath, was the real magic. It wasn’t the fall, but the catch. And they always, always caught her.

Chapter 20

The comforting haze lasted until Leo’s phone buzzed on the rug beside them. He let out a low groan, his arm tightening around Ella for a second before he reluctantly reached for it.

“It’s Jax,” he said, reading the screen. He answered, putting it on speaker. “Yeah, brother?”

“Uncle Bobby’s here,” Jax’s voice came through, steady and calm. “He’s in the clubhouse office. Wants to talk to everyone.”

Ella felt the shift in the room immediately. The languid warmth receded, replaced by a focused alertness radiating from both men. It wasn’t fear; it was the quiet click of a safety being switched off.

“We’re on our way,” Leo said, already moving.

They dressed in efficient silence. Jude handed Ella her clothes, his touch lingering on her shoulder. “You good?”

She nodded, pulling her dress over her head. “I’m good.”

Thor was waiting by the front door, his intelligent eyes tracking their movements. When they stepped outside into the cool night, he fell into his practiced position: a solid, furry presence glued to Ella’s left side, his shoulder brushing her thigh.

The walk to the clubhouse was short, the gravel path crunching underfoot. As they neared the heavy double doors, Jude moved to walk directly beside Ella, his hand finding the small of her back. The moment he made contact, Thor adjusted, moving a few purposeful steps ahead. The massive dog’s head swiveled, scanning the shadows between buildings, his body a rolling wave of protective muscle.

The clubhouse meeting room was full. Marcus sat at the head of the long table, his expression grim. Her brothers—Jax, Cole, and Finn—were arrayed around him, their postures identical crosses of tension and control. Pyro, Saint, and Reaper were there too, and beside them, Ella’s heart swelled to see Mischa, Chloe, and Sienna. Their presence wasn’t club business; it was sisterhood. They offered her small, supportive smiles.

In the center of it all, talking animatedly to Marcus and Cole, was Robert “Uncle Bobby” Moreno. He was a compact man with sharp eyes and a neatly trimmed goatee, his expensive suit looking out of place among the leather and denim.

Uncle Bobby broke off as they entered. “Ella, sweetheart,” he said, his voice warm but weary. He came around the table to hug her, a brief, tight embrace. “You holding up?”

“I am,” she said, her voice firmer than she expected.

“Good.” He stepped back, his gaze taking in Leo and Jude flanking her, and Thor now sitting attentively at her feet, eyes on the door. “We need you strong. They’re getting bold.”

“What’s the latest?” Leo asked, his voice a low rumble.

Cole answered, slapping a small, black, weatherproofed camera onto the table. It was the kind hunters used. “We did a sweep of the tree line along the private road. Found three of these. Motion-triggered, cellular upload. They’re tucked back in the brush, aimed at the gate and the first hundred yards of the drive.”

A cold knot tightened in Ella’s stomach.

“They’re not trying to breach the walls,” Jax said, his president’s voice cutting through the quiet room. “Not yet. This is intelligence gathering. They want patterns. They want to know when vehicles come and go. Specifically, they want to know when *she* comes and goes.”

“They’re waiting for a vulnerability,” Marcus added, his eyes on his daughter. “A doctor’s appointment, a trip to your shop. Any time the gate opens and you’re on the other side of it.”

Uncle Bobby nodded, tapping the camera. “This is admissible. It proves stalking, harassment, and a credible threat. It directly undermines their petition for guardianship, which argues you’re delusional about the danger. This,” he said, pointing at the device, “is the danger. Documented.”

Jude’s hand pressed a little more firmly against Ella’s back. “So what’s the play?”

“We let the sheriff know we’ve collected evidence,” Uncle Bobby said. “We use it to get a restraining order so expansive it’ll be a felony for any of them to breathe in this county. And we wait.”

“Wait for what?” Ella asked.

The attorney’s sharp eyes met hers. “For them to make a mistake. Legal or otherwise. Right now, they’re ghosts in the woods. The cameras mean they’re getting impatient. Impatient people get sloppy.” He looked around the room at the assembled family. “And when they get sloppy, we’ll be ready.”

Chapter 21

The front gate’s buzzer echoed through the silent room, a stark, electronic sound that severed the heavy atmosphere. Everyone froze for a fraction of a second, the collective tension sharpening into a single, unified point of focus.

Jax was the first to move, pushing back from the table. “That’ll be Tank.” He looked directly at Ella, his president’s mask softening into a brother’s concern. “You ready for this, kid?”

Before she could answer, Thor shifted, pressing his full weight against her leg. His low, steady presence was a silent answer. She placed a hand on his broad head, the coarse fur beneath her palm a tangible anchor.

“I’m ready,” Ella said, her voice clear. Leo’s hand squeezed her shoulder, Jude’s remained a solid warmth on her back.

“We’ll keep it simple and factual,” Uncle Bobby advised, gathering the small camera into an evidence bag. “Sheriff Riggs takes a statement from you, Ella, confirming you are here voluntarily and are not being held against your will. We present this,” he lifted the bag, “as evidence of harassment and stalking to contextualize the false report. That should be enough to kill the missing persons inquiry and bolster our position against the guardianship petition.”

The main door to the clubhouse swung open, and Sheriff Tom “Tank” Riggs filled the doorway. He was a mountain of a man who had earned his nickname honestly, with a close-cropped graying beard and eyes that missed nothing. His uniform seemed a little tighter across the shoulders than it used to be. His gaze swept the room, lingering on the assembled club members before settling on Marcus with a short nod.

“Marcus,” he said, his voice gravelly.

“Tom. Appreciate you coming out.”

Tank’s eyes found Ella next, and his expression softened marginally. “Ella. Heard you’ve had some trouble.” His gaze dropped to Thor, who was watching him intently but calmly. A good sign.

“You could say that,” Ella replied.

Tank took the offered seat at the table, his bulk making the chair creak. He set his hat down and pulled out a small notepad. “Alright. Let’s start with you, Ella. For the record, are you at this location of your own free will?”

“Yes, I am.”

“Are you being restrained or coerced to stay here by anyone, including family members or members of this club?”

“No. I live here by choice. This is my home.”

Tank made a note. “And the individuals who filed the report—Lilith and Damon Cantor—they are your biological mother and stepfather?”

“Yes.”

“When was the last time you had contact with them under circumstances you considered voluntary or welcome?”

Ella didn’t hesitate. “I was fifteen years old, when my father was awarded full custody by the court. Every interaction since has been an attempt by them to take me back into their… organization.” She used the word carefully, but everyone in the room knew what it meant.

Uncle Bobby slid the evidence bag across the table. “Sheriff, while my client was giving her voluntary statement, other concerns arose that directly relate to the credibility of this report and demonstrate a pattern of harassment.”

Tank picked up the bag, turning the small camera over in his large hands. “Where was this?”

“Three of them,” Cole interjected. “Placed along our private drive last night. Motion-activated, cellular feed. They were watching the gate.”

A low noise rumbled in Tank’s chest. He looked from the camera to Ella’s anxious face, then to the resolute ones surrounding her—her father, her brothers, her partners, her chosen family.

He closed his notepad with a definitive snap. “Well,” he grunted, standing up. “That about does it for my missing persons investigation. Statement is clear and voluntary. This,” he shook the evidence bag slightly, “changes the narrative entirely from a welfare check to an active harassment case.” He looked at Uncle Bobby. “You’ll be filing for an order?”

“First thing in the morning,” Bobby confirmed.

Tank gave a single nod. He looked at Ella one last time. “You’ve got good people around you, Ella. And you’ve got my office.” It was as close to a promise of protection as a sheriff could give.

As he turned to leave, the gate buzzer sounded again—two short, urgent bursts.

Jax frowned, moving to the security monitor on the wall. He flicked a switch and the screen lit up, showing the front gate camera.

A dark sedan was idling behind Tank’s parked cruiser. Standing at the intercom was a man in a suit, holding up a badge and identification toward the camera.

“County social worker,” Jax said flatly, his voice cold. “They didn’t even wait for sunrise.”

Chapter 22

The electronic rasp of the social worker’s intercom buzzer was still hanging in the air when Sheriff Riggs’s radio crackled to life. Every head in the room snapped toward the sound.

“Unit One to Sheriff Riggs.” The voice was young, tense, but familiar to several in the room.

Ella’s breath caught. *Mike.* Her fingers tightened automatically in Thor’s fur.

Tank keyed the mic on his shoulder. “Go ahead, Mike.”

“Sir, I’ve got a situation out here on County Road 7. We’ve got federal agents—FBI and DOJ—asking about a kidnapping across state lines. They’re citing a report filed by Lilith and Damon Cantor, alleging their adult daughter, a vulnerable mentally ill woman, is being held against her will here.”

A cold wave of déjà vu washed over Ella. The lies were so polished, so official-sounding.

Mike’s voice continued, strained with urgency. “I explained the local context, sir. I told them about the cult, the prior rescues, the documented harassment. But they’re insisting on coming to the compound to investigate. They’re… they’re being pushed. Hard. Sounds like pressure from some powerful members of that group.”

Finn muttered a low curse beside Jax. Marcus’s jaw was a hard line.

Tank’s gaze swept the room, landing on Uncle Bobby, then on Ella. He spoke into the radio, his voice a slab of granite. “Understood. I’m already on-site. Stand by. I’ll handle the federal introduction.” He released the mic and looked at Bobby. “Your show just got a federal audience.”

Uncle Bobby nodded, his expression turning razor-sharp. “Then let’s make sure they see the full picture.”

Leo’s arm wrapped more firmly around Ella’s shoulders. “You don’t have to talk to them,” he said, his voice low in her ear.

Jude, on her other side, was a wall of silent fury, his hand a steady pressure on her back. “They don’t get near her without going through us,” he stated, not to her, but to the room at large.

Ella swallowed, feeling the solid weight of Thor leaning into her leg. The dog’s calm, watchful presence was a tether to the present. She wasn’t fifteen anymore, tied to an altar. She was twenty-three, in her home, surrounded by her army.

“It’s okay,” she said, her voice quieter than she wanted but clear. “If they need to see I’m safe and sane to make them go away… then let them see.”

Tank gave a grunt of approval. “That’s the spirit.” He turned to Jax. “Your call, President. Let them in?”

Jax looked at his father, then at Ella. His nod was grim. “Open the gate. But they park outside the walls. They walk in. We control the ground.”

As Jax gave the order into the intercom, Ella felt the dynamic in the room shift palpably. The club members who had been seated stood, forming a loose but unmistakable perimeter around the central table where Ella sat with her father, her partners, and her uncle. It wasn’t a threat; it was a statement.

The front door opened again, and the county social worker, a man in a rumpled suit looking profoundly out of his depth, was ushered in by two prospects. Behind him, crossing from the gate with deliberate strides, came two figures—a man and a woman in dark jackets with clear federal insignia.

The woman spoke first, her eyes scanning the room with detached professionalism before landing on Tank. “Sheriff Riggs? I’m Special Agent Miller, DOJ. This is Special Agent Carter, FBI. We understand the subject of our inquiry, Amethyst Cantor, is present.”

“Her name,” Marcus said, his voice cutting through the room like a whip, “is Ella Van Zant.”

Agent Carter’s eyes flickered to Marcus. “We’re here to ascertain her welfare and speak with her regarding serious allegations made by her family.”

Uncle Bobby stood smoothly, a welcoming smile that didn’t reach his eyes on his face. “Gentlemen… and lady. I’m Robert Kincaid, attorney for Miss Van Zant and for this organization. My client is present voluntarily and is prepared to give a statement.” He gestured to the evidence bag still on the table. “But first, given the allegations involve claims of coercion, I believe you should be made aware of the ongoing criminal harassment campaign being waged against her by the very individuals who filed your report.”

He lifted the bag containing the small camera. “Planted last night. To watch her home.”

The two agents exchanged a look. The script they’d been given was already fraying.

Ella took a deep breath, Thor’s warmth seeping up through her leg into her core. She met Agent Miller’s gaze and spoke before anyone could speak for her.

“Ask your questions,” she said quietly to the federal agents

Chapter 23

Before Agent Miller could even open her mouth, a reedy voice piped up from behind her.

“Ahem. Yes, excuse me.”

The county social worker, a thin man in a too-large suit with a damp, pale forehead, stepped hesitantly from behind the federal agents. His eyes were fixed not on Ella, but on Thor. He pointed a trembling finger.

“That… that animal will need to be restrained. Or removed. I’m afraid for my personal safety.”

The room’s temperature seemed to drop ten degrees. Ella’s hand tightened convulsively in Thor’s fur. The dog, sensing the shift in her, let out a low, quiet rumble that was felt more than heard.

Uncle Bobby stepped forward, his smile placid but his eyes like chips of ice. “This is Thor. He’s a highly trained psychiatric service animal, registered and essential for Miss Van Zant’s well-being. He is not a threat.”

“He’s a very large dog,” the social worker insisted, wringing his hands. “His presence is intimidating. It could affect her answers, make her feel she has to say what *they* want.” He gestured vaguely at Leo and Jude.

Ella’s breath hitched. The thought of Thor being taken from her side, of being led into a room alone with this nervous stranger and the stone-faced agents… Her vision began to tunnel, the edges darkening with familiar, creeping panic. She could feel the spiral’s hook snag in her gut.

Thor immediately pressed his full weight against her leg, his head turning to nuzzle her hand. A soft, concerned whine escaped him.

Jude’s hand, which had been a steady presence on her back, shifted to her shoulder, his grip firm and grounding. Leo’s arm around her shoulders didn’t budge, but she felt the muscles in his forearm cord with tension.

“He’s alerting,” Jude said, his voice cutting through the social worker’s complaints. His gaze was locked on Ella’s face, reading the storm gathering there.

The social worker wasn’t listening. “For an impartial assessment, I must insist on speaking with Amethyst alone. Without any… influences.” His eyes darted to Marcus, to her brothers, to her partners.

“No,” Uncle Bobby said, the single word final as a judge’s gavel. “You will not be speaking to my client alone. I am her attorney, and I will be present for any and all questioning. That is her right. The dog stays. Her support system stays. We are not negotiating her civil liberties based on your discomfort.”

Agent Miller exchanged a long look with Agent Carter. The script had clearly not included a lawyer who knew his stuff and a subject whose primary protector weighed a hundred and twenty pounds and had four paws.

“Mr. Kincaid is correct,” Agent Miller said, her tone professionally neutral. “The subject has a right to counsel. As for the dog…” She looked at Thor, who was now sitting attentively, his intelligent eyes watching the social worker with calm assessment. “If it’s a certified service animal, it stays.”

The social worker looked crestfallen, his demand crumbling. Ella felt the crushing pressure in her chest ease just a fraction, enough for her to draw a ragged breath. She was still in the lion’s den, but her pride was with her.

Chapter 24

Reginald Winkey’s damp face flushed a deeper shade of pink. “I will be noting in my report that a dangerous animal was present during questioning and may have affected the subject’s responses,” he announced, his voice quavering with a pathetic attempt at authority.

From across the room, leaning against the doorframe with his massive arms crossed, Jax let out a low snort. “Thor’s better trained than you are, Reginald. He knows when to sit, stay, and not piss himself.”

Winkey looked like he’d been slapped. His mouth opened and closed soundlessly. Agents Miller and Vance both turned their heads sharply to look at the floor, their shoulders shaking for a brief second before they mastered their expressions, faces returning to stony professionalism.

“Enough,” Uncle Bobby said, his tone slicing through the tension. “This is not an official custodial interview. My client is here voluntarily.”

“Precisely,” Winkey squeaked, finding his voice again. “Which is why, for an impartial assessment, *only* her attorney may remain. Everyone else is potentially implicated by the guardianship complaint. They must leave.”

“No,” Uncle Bobby stated flatly.

Agent Miller stepped forward, her gaze softer when it landed on Ella. “Miss Van Zant, if you had your attorney, your service dog, and one… friend with you for support, would you feel comfortable answering a few basic questions? The goal here is to resolve this petition quickly.”

Ella felt the familiar icy fingers of panic trying to curl around her spine. She looked at Agent Miller’s eyes and saw no malice, only a weary pragmatism. *She’s just trying to make the weasel shut up and go away.* The realization was a life raft.

She took a shaky breath, her hand buried in Thor’s fur. “If… if it means he leaves without dragging this out,” she said, nodding toward Winkey, “I can try. But I need Thor. And Uncle Bobby. And one of my friends.”

She glanced over at Chloe, Misha, and Sienna. Without a word, Chloe and Misha both gave a slight nod toward Sienna, the most serene of the three.

“Alright,” Uncle Bobby said, addressing the agents and Winkey. “For Miss Van Zant’s comfort and sense of safety, you will all remain on the opposite side of this table. You will not approach her.”

Jude and Leo were at her side instantly. Jude cupped her face, his thumb stroking her cheekbone. “You don’t have to do this.”

“We’ll be right outside this door,” Leo growled, his jaw tight with displeasure. “You say the word, and it stops.”

She nodded, leaning into their touch for a fleeting second of stolen strength. “Okay.”

As the room cleared—Marcus directing Cole and Finn to bring in the four heavy boxes of legal and medical records—the stage was set. Ella sat between Sienna and Uncle Bobby at the large oak table, Thor a solid, warm pressure against her leg under it. Across from them sat Agents Miller and Vance, notebooks open, and Reginald Winkey, who was already fumbling with his own pen as if it were a foreign object.

“Let’s begin,” Agent Miller said quietly.

Chapter 25

“Let’s begin,” Agent Miller said quietly.

For the next forty minutes, they walked through the facts. Agent Miller’s questions were precise and gentle.

“Can you state your full legal name for the record?”

“Amethyst Grace Van Zant prior to a name change at eighteen is was Amethyst Grace Cantor.”

“And you are here of your own free will?”

“Yes.”

“Are you being coerced or held against your will by anyone in this compound?”

“No. I am here because I choose to be. It’s my home.”

Through it all, Ella kept one hand on Thor’s head and felt the calm, steady pressure of Sienna’s knee against her own under the table. Uncle Bobby interjected only when necessary, directing her not to answer hypotheticals.

Reginald Winkey, however, could not help himself. As Ella described her childhood—the custody battles, the “cleansing ceremonies”—he sniffed and scribbled notes with a furious, judgmental energy.

“And these… alleged ceremonies,” Winkey said, peering over his glasses. “You claim they left significant scarring. Yet you live here with two unrelated men. One could argue this environment replicates a dynamic of submission to male authority, does it not?”

Uncle Bobby’s hand came down flat on the table. “That is an outrageous and leading question. Do not answer that, Ella.”

Agent Miller shot Winkey a warning look. “Mr. Winkey, you are here to observe, not to conduct a psychological evaluation.”

“I am assessing fitness,” Winkey retorted, his voice shrill. “And the presence of this *animal* is clearly a comfort object, indicating an inability to self-soothe. It’s a relevant factor in her mental state.”

From beneath the table, Thor let out a low, soft huff of air, as if sighing at the stupidity of it all. Ella felt a sudden, wild urge to laugh.

Instead, she looked directly at Winkey. “Thor is a medically prescribed service animal for diagnosed PTSD. His training is certified. He alerts to anxiety attacks before I’m aware of them and interrupts night terrors.” She took a breath, her voice strengthening. “He doesn’t judge me or ask me insulting questions. He just helps me live my life. Which is more than I can say for you right now.”

A faint, approving smile touched Agent Vance’s lips before he looked back at his notes.

Winkey flushed. “I see. Well. The records, then.” He gestured weakly toward the four large boxes Cole and Finn had deposited at the end of the table.

Agent Miller stood and opened the first box. She pulled out a thick folder, her eyes scanning a police report from when Ella was twelve. Her expression grew graver with each page she turned—the documented kidnappings, the hospital reports for burn treatments, the custody order granting Marcus full emergency custody.

After several minutes of silent reading, shared between the two agents, Miller looked up. Her professional detachment had softened into something resembling pity, and then into firm resolve.

“Mr. Winkey,” she said, her tone leaving no room for argument. “Based on this documented history of repeated abduction, torture, and harassment by the petitioners, and the victim’s clear, consistent testimony of feeling safe here, I see no grounds for an emergency guardianship order. The FBI has no interest in pursuing this as a kidnapping case.”

Winkey sputtered. “The petition alleges undue influence! This closed environment—”

“Is a secured residence for a verified stalking victim,” Agent Vance finished, closing his notebook with a definitive snap. “Our recommendation will be to dismiss the petition and refer the petitioners for investigation into witness intimidation and harassment.”

The relief that washed over Ella was so profound it felt like gravity had changed. Sienna squeezed her hand under the table.

Uncle Bobby stood. “I trust we’re done here. I’ll be filing a motion for sanctions against the petitioners and their counsel for this frivolous, harassing action by the end of the day.”

As the agents rose to leave, Winkey gathered his things, defeated and scowling.

The door opened before they reached it. Jude and Leo filled the doorway, their eyes instantly finding Ella’s, searching for any sign of distress.

Seeing the calm on her face, the tension drained from Jude’s shoulders. Leo offered her a small, private smile that spoke volumes.

It was over. For now.
